The Cape is on the Lost Coast. Reachable by car via the Mattole Rd out of Ferndale CA. Wanted to hike but fences and no trespassing signs coupled with lack of a trail made that virtually impossible. The 30 kn winds added to the near impossibility.
It’s not easy to reach by boat as the winds cause and ocean sell of about 15 ft in this region. Further, there is the coastal current and an upwelling of cold water that causes an eddy to form south of the Cape in the summer. I’ve heard the eddy can lead to marked changes in direction of travels.
